Grafton Notch Fail/Frozen Waterfall

Trying to think of fun winter adventures, I remembered Screw Auger falls in Grafton Notch and wondered what it might look like frozen. Then I noticed that there are three other waterfalls within four minutes of each other. Kati, Ruth (2yo), Adi (4yo) and I headed up in the morning with plans to snowshoe to each of the four frozen waterfalls and then get lunch in Bethel before heading home. We brought LLBean snow tubes and a wooden sled to pull them along, which was quite a workout as it had recently snowed a lot. First we went to Step Falls, then Moose Caves, then Mother Walker Falls, then Screw Auger Falls… all of them were just buried in snow… no moving water, no ice, just a lot of snow. With the hope of french fries on her mind, Adi reassured us that it was ok we didn’t actually see any frozen waterfalls. We stopped at Butcher Burger on the way out.
